SWITCH launches an online magazine

With its high-performance network, SWITCH links Swiss internet users with each other, with Europe and with the rest of the world. As an innovative and comprehensive service provider, SWITCH leveraged their established online presence by publishing an online magazine. This communication platform strategically targets university IT departments, learners and researchers with the new online magazine providing an updated overview of SWITCH, refreshing the company’s web presence.

Launched on 1 April 2014, SWITCH demonstrates again the sophistication of simplicity, through their professional and passionate approach to online communication.
Claudia Gonzalez, project manager for SWITCH, says “In getunik, we have found a competent partner exceptionally capable of meeting our very high demands for contemporary online communication. With their exceptional commitment, this internet agency completed the online magazine project on time, and we are delighted with the result.  It is a good base for further growth, and we look forward to working on upcoming projects with getunik.”

For the online magazine, SWITCH rendered the technical implementation and the CMS, while getunik created the information architecture, all front-end templates and the magazine design. By supplying a creative framework, getunik provided SWITCH with a set of building-block components, with which the company could build a number of different types of online pages.

User-friendly magazine design

SWITCH needs to regularly and independently produce and publish editorial contributions for the online magazine.  In designing the magazine layout, getunik needed to ensure:

  1. The structure of the magazine is simple and easy to read
  2. There needs to be reduced navigation and number of clicks for browsing
  3. The style is modern and uses the SWITCH handwriting font, which comprises of special graphics

In achieving this, getunik ensured that both the content and the required design are unique and provide significant value to clients SWITCH and the magazine readers.
